When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem,
He went to the temple of God.
What did he find there in Jerusalem,
What did he find there?

People selling and buying
And money changing
And that in the temple of God,
Selling oxen and sheep
And doves for sacrificial offerings.

He said: “Stop it!”

Full of anger he took some small cords
And made a scourge out of them.
What did he need them, these small cords,
What did he need them for:
He cast out the sellers and money changers,
Out of the temple of God,
With their oxen, their sheep
And their doves and poured out all their money.

He said: “Stop it!”

He overthrew their tables and seats
And said unto them:
“It is written!
Didn’t you know that?
Didn’t you know that?
My house shall be called a house of prayer.
It is the temple of God!

But you have made it a den of thieves
And a place of merchandise.”

He said: “Stop it!”

I am the way, the only way
To the house of the Lord.
I am the truth,
The only truth for the world.

Als Jesus in Jerusalem ankam,
ging er zum Tempel Gottes.
Was fand er dort in Jerusalem?
Was fand er dort?

Menschen, die Waren verkauften und kauften,
und Geld wechselten.
Und das im Tempel Gottes:
Sie verkauften Rinder und Schafe
und Tauben als Opfergaben.

Er rief: „Hört auf damit!“

Voller Zorn nahm er ein paar Stricke
und flocht daraus eine Geißel.
Wozu brauchte er diese Stricke?
Wozu brauchte er sie?
Er trieb die Händler und Geldwechsler
aus dem Tempel Gottes,
mit ihren Rindern, ihren Schafen
und ihren Tauben, und schüttete ihr ganzes Geld aus.

Er rief: „Hört auf damit!“

Er warf ihre Tische und Stühle um.
Und sprach zu ihnen:
„Es steht geschrieben!
Wusstet ihr das nicht?
Wusstet ihr das nicht?
Mein Haus soll ein Bethaus heißen.
Es ist der Tempel Gottes!

Ihr aber habt es zu einer Räuberhöhle gemacht,
zu einem Handelsplatz.“

Er sprach: „Hört auf damit!“

Ich bin der Weg,
der einzige Weg zum Haus des Herrn.
Ich bin die Wahrheit,
die einzige Wahrheit für die Welt.
